From the Dean’s Office
By now, most parents have gathered some intel as to what vaping is. The only question that remains is, how much have we’ve spoken to our children about the negative effects that vaping can have on the human body. Vaping has only been in existence since 2007, therefore little data has directly linked this trend to any forms of lung disease…yet. In recent weeks, the media has devoted many hours to covering this dangerous epidemic. Every night there are news stories highlighting the various states and government bureaucracies that have finally gotten on board in banning the sale of certain pods, etc. To date, roughly 450 medical cases of lung disease have been linked to vaping. Five people have died from it.
Today, I write to ask that you hit refresh on the conversations that you have previously had with your children while in the car or at the dinner table. In my experience, showing that you’re on top of the issue lets your kids know that you mean business.
For your education, I am linking three videos for you to watch. The first video is the same video I shared with your sons and daughters at their orientation in September. You can see how severe this problem has become. The others I encourage you to watch with your children. I pray that it initiates an in-depth conversation. Please don’t delay – make it happen as soon as possible.
