When entering the Homecoming Students Pre-Game Barbecue, organized by the Friar Faithful, Global Ambassadors, and S.A.L.T., it’s hard not to notice the pure competitive spirit of those playing dodge ball or the excitement of small crowds surrounding the Ping-Pong tables. This event contained students both involved in the Saint Anthony’s Leadership Team (S.A.L.T.) and others just coming to enjoy the fun set up by faculty and staff before the homecoming game. The games set up included the ever popular dodge ball, and ping pong, which proved itself to be incredibly exciting. Other games like the Frisbee toss and hackie sack only needed two or three people and, although fun, definitely not as competitive. A game of spike ball proved to be the most unexpected treat of the hour attracting a number of people who all believed they were winning. A small unofficial Basketball game also formed as the night went on. Besides games other entertainment included a photo booth with an increasingly long line and of course as the invite promised, classic barbecue food complete with fries, and hot dogs, and other fixings. To end the event Mrs. Anderson, the director of S.A.L.T. told us that we did a great job enjoying the fun and then lead us to the Homecoming game. This made it easier to find a seat in the packed crowd before the bleachers filled. A good way to start off homecoming, the barbecue definitely delivered.
