On Friday, January 20th St. Anthony’s lost to Chaminade 71–56. Chaminade started off hot going on an 11–0 run to open the game. The Friars faced a 21–8 deficit at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter started, similar to the first, with Chaminade on a 7–0 run. The Friars went into halftime down 38–21.
The Friars came out of the half looking like a different team, however. Jon Harewood helped cut the lead to 11 by dropping 10 points in the third quarter, while Tyrone Lyons added 4 points of his own. Chaminade was up 54–43 at the beginning of the fourth.
The Friars showed their grit in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to six. Unfortunately, Chaminade was able to pull away and win the game in the final minutes.
St. Anthony’s didn’t allow the loss to determine future results. The Friars bounced back from their first league loss and defeated Portledge 84–49 on Wednesday, Jan. 25th.
